All of my claywork is handbuilt and one of a kind, using a variety of surface finishes, including ceramic stains and washes/glazes, smoke fired,  or painted, or a combination.  The clay at times includes paper, or other texturing material. Paintings are acrylic on cradled hardboard or birch wood panels.IMG_0586.JPGIMG_0435.JPG

Most recent work is "...in time..."  These are freestanding pieces suggesting the passage of time and the changes that take place in human, constructed or natural structures. They are collapsing, sagging, torn, leaning... Nothing remains the same. There is beauty in that ultimate transformation.  These pieces are on display  Odyssey along with several "circle of life" wall pieces. The circle represents continuity renewal.  Life, death, rebirth, whether it is a sunrise, a flower blooming, we rely on life reasserting itself.

Recent work  "Spirited Vessals".  Vessals/boats represent a journey. In some cultures the vessal/boat is to travel between the earthly and the spiritual world, between life and death. This image may also represent exploration, of the self, of the natural world.. The final  piece in that series is "...into the night..." (or final voyage).

My current paintings, mostly on cradled board are inspired by the natural world.  Currently these are on display in my studio in Asheville, NC.

My work can be seen at Odyssey Studios in Asheville, NC and Zero Degrees Gallery, Marquette MI.
